The Warm Homes Loan Scheme is a government-supported scheme designed to lower the cost of borrowing for home energy upgrades. Regulated lenders provide the loans, and government funding helps them offer lower interest rates, so you can spread the cost of solar panels, battery storage and air source heat pumps through monthly repayments.
Homeowners installing an air source heat pump may be able to take the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant first and finance what is left. Combining the two will be subject to the final eligibility and finance rules.
Illustrative example only, not a finance offer. It assumes your home qualifies for the £7,500 grant. Homes off the mains gas grid that are replacing oil or LPG heating may qualify for £9,000.
With lower-interest finance on the balance, switching to an energy-efficient heating system could become much more affordable.

Lenders are being approved onto the scheme, and loans are expected to become available through those lenders. Launch dates, interest rates and full eligibility are still to be confirmed. Register your interest and we will let you know when we hear more.
No. The loans come from regulated lenders. Government grant funding helps those lenders offer lower interest rates than they otherwise would.
Based on current information, homeowners and private landlords borrowing in their own name, with no income threshold or minimum EPC rating. Lenders still run their normal credit checks, and businesses are excluded at first.
Solar panels, battery storage and air source heat pumps are expected to be covered, with maximum loans of up to £15,000 for solar, £15,000 for a battery and £20,000 for a heat pump. These figures may change before launch.
In England and Wales you may be able to use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant (£7,500, or £9,000 for off-gas homes replacing oil or LPG) to reduce the cost first, then finance the rest. Combining them will depend on the final eligibility and finance rules.
